"Fabricated Wave"
An "artwear" cocktail attire winter dress. This
dress is one of a kind with hand made details. My own passion for art
reinforced my thought that this dress had to be special, art within itself and
a conversation starter. For the bodice, I
added a very sheer black organza over a gold fabric to give an
illusion of skin in certain lighting. The gold is a high quality silk
mix. The back of the dress has a “sliver” of a cotton mural
textile. This mural is so small in proportion to the dress that it just
ads a little something extra, a conversation starter, a little intrigue. The
balloon peplum itself is the reverse side of navy satin over stiff tulle. The rest of the dress is a very
elegant navy/midnight blue wool. It
is a rather light wool at nine ounces per square yard. I also added four
very small simple silver belt loops, which are like jewelry and interesting in
itself, and welt pockets just above the balloon peplum. The entire dress is fully lined in navy
satin. This is a classic yet on trend garment with the sheer organza and an updated
peplum. The Style.com Pre-Fall 2015 Trend Forecast reported, "The best kind of
evening look is an unexpected one."
This is what I offer. That is why my design is a
good investment piece. It is on trend
yet timeless in an unexpected way.
